Dr Mahan-Taylor

Clinic Director & Consultant Clinical Psychologist

Dr Steven Mahan-Taylor is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Couples Therapist with many years’ experience across both the NHS and private sector. Throughout his NHS career, he worked within specialist inpatient, outpatient, hospital, and community services. Through these early experiences, he worked with some of the most complex presentations and developed a keen ability to adapt evidence-based therapies to the unique needs of each client, however longstanding or multifaceted their concerns.

Dr Mahan-Taylor creates a therapy space that is professional, warm, and human. He is known for his ability to form genuine, trusting therapeutic relationships, which is an essential foundation for deep and lasting change. Clients consistently value his balance of clinical expertise with an approachable, grounded style.

In his extensive private practice career, Dr Mahan-Taylor has become particularly attuned to the demands placed on senior leaders, entrepreneurs, and high-profile individuals. He has strong expertise in working with CEOs, C-Suite executives, and those in the public eye, offering a confidential and secure space where they can speak freely and feel truly understood. He appreciates the unique pressures of leadership—responsibility, scrutiny, performance, and the loneliness it can bring—and supports his clients to navigate these challenges while protecting their wellbeing and relationships. In addition, he is skilled in supporting the loved ones of high-profile individuals, helping them navigate the unique challenges of these relationships through couples or individual therapy

Alongside his work with senior professionals, Dr Mahan-Taylor specialises in adult mental health more broadly. He has worked with clients of all ages and backgrounds across a wide spectrum of emotional experiences, including depression, anxiety, trauma, personality difficulties, bereavement, loneliness, eating disorders, substance misuse, health anxiety, relationship struggles, and work-related stress. He has a particular interest in working with clients with complex, entrenched experiences —often those who have found previous therapies unhelpful. His capacity to hold complexity with compassion allows such clients to feel safe enough to explore longstanding patterns and move toward meaningful change. Dr Mahan-Taylor’s non-judgemental, non-blaming approach to couples therapy helps clients better understand themselves and their partners, improve communication, and rebuild or strengthen their relationships.

In 2024, Dr Mahan-Taylor founded London Bridge Therapy in the heart of London Bridge, with the vision of building and nurturing a team of some of London’s most highly skilled and experienced therapists. Each member of the team brings specialist expertise and advanced training, enabling the clinic to offer a breadth and depth of psychological support tailored to the diverse needs of clients. The ethos of London Bridge Therapy is to provide truly personalised, bespoke care, where every client feels understood and supported by a therapist uniquely suited to their needs.

Drawing upon his own years of experience across both the NHS and private sector, Dr Mahan-Taylor is highly skilled in delivering a range of evidence-based approaches, including Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions. His integrative style allows him to draw flexibly from these approaches, creating a therapeutic experience that is not only effective but also deeply attuned to each client’s individual goals, history, and life context.
