Dr Kate O’Connor is a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist with extensive experience across various therapeutic settings within the NHS, including both inpatient and community environments. In her current role, she primarily works with adults facing enduring and complex mental health challenges, demonstrating her versatility and expertise in handling a wide range of client needs.
Dr O’Connor’s proficiency spans across multiple presentations, including anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, panic disorder, relational difficulties, eating disorders, social anxiety, neurodivergence, dementia, psychosis, and bipolar disorder. She excels at tailoring therapeutic approaches to the individual, ensuring a personalised treatment that fosters lasting improvements in well-being.
She has undergone advanced training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for severe and enduring mental health difficulties and Compassion Focused Therapy, directly from its founder. Dr O’Connor is adept at addressing high levels of shame and self-criticism, as well as the emotional and relational difficulties that often accompany these issues. She helps clients explore the root causes of these challenges, considering factors such as early life experiences and social, cultural, and familial contexts, to cultivate self-compassion and understanding.
