Full Bio
Dr Grace McNatty is a warm, compassionate and collaborative Clinical Psychologist and Couples Therapist who helps people develop a deeper understanding of themselves, their relationships and the patterns that may be contributing to their difficulties. With extensive experience across private practice and NHS settings in the UK, Australia and New Zealand, she has worked with a broad range of clients, including busy professionals navigating the pressures of demanding careers, relationships and everyday life.
Dr McNatty has extensive experience supporting people with a wide range of psychological concerns, including anxiety, low mood, depression, low self-esteem, perfectionism, burnout, stress, trauma, panic attacks and relationship difficulties. She is also highly experienced in working with complex presentations, including clients experiencing multiple, overlapping concerns. Her breadth of clinical experience enables her to take a thoughtful, nuanced approach to understanding each person’s difficulties, recognising how different challenges can interact and contribute to longstanding patterns of distress.
Dr McNatty has a particular interest in interpersonal and relationship difficulties, workplace challenges, and supporting people navigating questions of identity, connection and belonging. She also has experience working with neurodivergent clients and is committed to LGBTQIA+ affirmative and inclusive practice. Her work recognises the ways in which personal experiences, relationships and wider life circumstances can influence psychological wellbeing.
Dr McNatty’s therapeutic approach is collaborative, integrative and tailored to each individual’s needs. She draws on a range of evidence-based approaches, with particular expertise in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Schema Therapy. She also incorporates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and the Gottman Method where appropriate. Her approach combines practical strategies for managing current difficulties with a deeper exploration of the underlying patterns, beliefs and experiences that may be contributing to them.
Dr McNatty is particularly interested in understanding how early experiences and relationship patterns shape the ways we relate to ourselves and others in the present. She helps clients identify and make sense of longstanding patterns, develop greater self-awareness and self-compassion, and find more flexible and fulfilling ways of responding to life’s challenges.
Dr McNatty is also a highly experienced couples therapist, supporting couples with a wide range of relationship challenges, including communication difficulties, recurring conflict, emotional disconnection, trust and intimacy concerns, and navigating significant life transitions. She brings warmth, sensitivity and clinical expertise to this work, creating a balanced and supportive space in which both partners feel heard, understood and respected. Dr McNatty is skilled at helping couples explore the underlying dynamics and patterns contributing to their difficulties, develop a deeper understanding of one another’s perspectives and needs, and find more constructive ways of communicating and connecting. Her approach supports couples to strengthen their relationship, rebuild connection and work towards meaningful, lasting change.
Above all, Dr McNatty aims to create a safe, inclusive, trauma-informed and non-judgemental therapeutic space where clients feel genuinely heard, understood and supported. She works collaboratively with clients to navigate difficulties, build resilience and make meaningful changes in their lives. Her work goes beyond symptom reduction, helping people develop a stronger sense of self and build lives that feel more balanced, connected and aligned with their values.
