Full Bio
Dr George Bougas is a highly skilled and compassionate Clinical Psychologist with extensive experience across both NHS and private practice settings. He works with adults, young people, and couples, offering expert psychological therapy for a wide range of difficulties, from common mental health concerns to more complex and longstanding relational challenges.
Dr Bougas has worked with a broad spectrum of presentations, including anxiety disorders, depression, low self-esteem, perfectionism, trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), eating disorders, relationship difficulties, and sexual and intimacy concerns. A significant focus of his work is on relational and attachment-based experiences, such as emotional insecurity, self-criticism, people-pleasing, and recurring interpersonal difficulties, which often have their roots in early life relationships and unmet emotional needs.
His therapeutic approach is integrative and relational, with a particular emphasis on Schema Therapy. He also draws on evidence-based principles from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), systemic approaches, and psychosexual therapy, carefully tailoring his work to each client’s individual needs and goals. Dr Bougas places strong importance on the therapeutic relationship, supporting clients to understand how early relational patterns continue to shape present-day experiences, and helping them develop more secure, compassionate, and fulfilling ways of relating to themselves and others.
