Full Bio
Sarah Horner is a Specialist Psychodynamic Couples therapist with a Master’s degree in Psychology from the University of Cambridge and a Postgraduate Diploma in Couples Psychotherapy from Tavistock Relationships, an internationally respected centre for couples therapy training, research and clinical practice.
Sarah works with couples from a wide range of cultural backgrounds, relationship structures and sexual orientations. While every relationship is unique, she commonly supports couples experiencing difficulties with communication, recurring conflict, trust and infidelity, commitment, and the emotional pressures that can emerge during major life transitions. These may include becoming parents, moving in together, bereavement, children leaving home, or retirement.
Her approach is psychodynamic, meaning she works collaboratively with couples to explore the deeper emotional roots of their difficulties and the unconscious patterns that may be shaping their relationship.
Sarah helps couples reflect on how past experiences and attachment histories can influence present dynamics, often uncovering cycles of blame, misunderstanding or resentment that have become difficult to shift. Through therapy, she supports couples in developing a fuller understanding of the relationship as something co-created between them, opening space for greater empathy, insight and change.
Before retraining as a psychotherapist, Sarah spent two decades working in communications consulting across a variety of sectors. This experience gives her particular insight into the pressures faced by individuals and couples balancing demanding professional lives alongside their relationships.
