Relationship and Psychosexual Therapist
James Earl is a highly experienced and professionally qualified Relationship and Psychosexual Therapist. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Relationship Therapy and a Professional Certificate in Psychosexual Therapy from Relate, as well as a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Sussex.
As a registered member of the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT), James has worked extensively with clients across the UK and internationally. His approach is deeply collaborative, fostering a warm and trusting therapeutic environment where clients feel supported and engaged. James believes that therapy is a shared journey, where understanding the underlying dynamics of relationships is key to fostering positive change. His clients often describe their experience as friendly, insightful, and transformative—restoring both faith and joy in their relationships.
James specialises in communication issues, rekindling desire and intimacy, recovering from affairs, and addressing sexual difficulties. Additionally, he brings a unique perspective to working with anxiety, depression, anger, and addiction through adaptive behaviour therapy. His approach integrates various therapeutic models, including Psychodynamic, Systemic, Existential, Transactional Analysis, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, allowing him to tailor treatment to meet the specific needs of each individual or couple.
Beyond his therapeutic work, James has a rich and varied professional background. He previously served as a psychosexual therapist for organisations throughout London, and spent many years as an academic, teaching philosophy at Richmond, The American International University in London. His philosophical training offers clients a unique lens on life’s deeper themes—love, loss, joy, and intimacy—providing a holistic approach to both individual and relationship therapy.
In addition to his clinical practice, James has a growing media presence. He has contributed to prominent publications such as Newsweek, The Guardian, and Women’s Health, and is a regular guest on podcasts and radio shows, including a recent interview with Mariella Frostrup on Times Radio. He also writes for Liz Earle Wellbeing and shares insightful articles on relationships, sex, and mental health via LinkedIn.
James works with individuals and couples from all backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations, and relationship styles, creating a safe and inclusive space for all. His dedication to helping clients understand themselves and their relationships deeply, combined with his warmth and expertise, makes him a trusted and respected therapist in the field of relationship and psychosexual therapy.
